Deus Muhumuza is proving to be the go to player for the Cricket Cranes on the tour and with 5 runs needed off 3 balls he blasted a six to give Uganda a 6 wicket win.

Uganda was chasing down 132 set by Qatar under the lights at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium in Doha and they followed up their narrow 5 runs win over the hosts with another.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a most 132/8 with Deus Muhumuza bowling another tidy spell with his medium pacers and a mix of slow balls drying up runs at the right time.

On his first game on the tour, Kenneth Waiswa opened bowling with Bilal Hassan. However, it was Riaz Shah (3/28) with the best figures of the bowlers, and the spin duo of Henry Ssenyondo and Frank Nsubuga offered support.

In the chase, Uganda was out of the blocks quick with Roger Mukasa (40) and Hamu Kayondo (51) sharing an opening stand of 89 before the captain departed in the 12th over of the match caught at backward point.

Riaz Shah (3) was promoted up the order to try and get the team over the line but the move didn’t pay off with the asking rate also climbing.

Frank Nsubuga, Hamu Kayondo departed in quick succession and with 26 needed off 18 balls Uganda looked to be in trouble. However, Kenneth Waiswa (10) and Deus Muhumuza (23 not out)  held their nerve with the latter playing the role of aggressor hitting 3 big maximums including the winning six with 5 runs needed off 3 balls.

There is still no rest for team Uganda as they will be in action tomorrow in the 4th game of the tour when they play a 50 over game against the hosts.
