Former Proline defender, Ivan Ngog’ Bukenya, 27,  is currently training with Swedish club, FC Linkopings City.

Ivan Bukenya Celebrates a goal at East Bengal

The club features in the top flight Damallsevenskan tier in the Swedish national league.

Bukenya left Uganda for Malt where he recently held trials as well before crossing over to FC Linkopings City.

He has of late featured in one training match against AFK with the club as the assessment process goes on.

Linkopings won the trial match in convincing fashion 3-1.

They host their home games at the 7500 Arena Linkoping in Linkoping City

Linkoping will kick off the league on Sunday, 15th April 2018 at home against Vaxjo.

Bukenya has previously played at Nalubaale, Arbil (Iraq), Kaizer Chiefs (South Africa), East Bengal (India) and lately Proline in Uganda.

He has won 8 caps for the Uganda Cranes and scored once.

Who is Ivan Bukenya?

Bukenya was born to Fred Yiga, a renowned civil servant at the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) and Justine Nantume on 1st November 1991.

He averages 6.3 feet tall with excellent ball reading antics, good positional sense and awesome aerial prowess.

His mother was a tennis player in her youth and it was her inspiration and funding of youth football tournaments around her home area that encouraged Bukenya to become a top professional.

Bukenya’s mother died in 2010 and at one stage he contemplated quitting game.

He won the CECAFA U-20 Championship in Eritrea, played with the Uganda U-23 team and featured at the 2011 CHAN tournament in Sudan.

He also played for the Senior national team under former coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic.
