Mbarara City secured an important point on Tuesday when they fought from a goal down to hold title chasing KCCA FC to a 1-1 draw at Lugogo.

Maqueth Wol cancelled Muzamir Mutyaba’s first half penalty while Jackson Nuda’s would be winning goal for KCCA was cancelled controversially.

And to Sam Kawalya, the man in charge of the Ankole Lions, the point was huge in their fight against relegation.

“We played a very big team and getting a draw away from home especially in this second round is not easy so I think it is a very fair result for us,” he told the press.

“We need to build on this result and do better in the remaining games to avoid relegation.”

Mbarara City has earned 23 points from 22 games. They sit 11th on the 16-team table and four points clear of the bottom three.

The side visits Express FC at Wankulukuku on Wednesday 11th, April 2018 in their next outing.
