2014 UWbF Most Valuable Players: Lillian Zawedde (Women) and Joel Adupa (Men)

Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) unanimously voted Lillian Zawedde and Joel Adupa as the 2014 best woodball women and men respective players.

Whereas Adupa was acknowledged for his bronze at the World University Games and awesome domestic form, Zawedde, currently the only ranked Ugandan (24th) in the world was recognized for the individual brilliance at the 4 international events that she took part in.

Zawedde who played in the Indian, Korean, Chinese, Malaysia and the wood ball world cup spoke to Kawowo Sports shortly after the awards gala;

I feel so excited that the federation is rewarding my sweat and efforts. I will continue to work hard for the best results and keep up the rankings

Zawedde won silver and bronze from the Indian Open held at the St. Xavier’s sports complex in Jaipur in Rajasthan; scopped a single’s silver at the Korean International open before she participated in the Chinese open (despite being sick with malaria) and guided team Uganda to a respectable fifth place in the Woodball world cup held in Malaysia.

Ironically, Zawedde was beaten to the women woodball best player’s gong by Joan Mukoova in the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) polls.

Adupa beat perennial winner, Onesmas Atamba to the men’s overall gong.

The awards gala was attended by Uganda Sports state minister, Charles Bakabulindi, who appreciated the great deeds of the woodball federation.

The Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) is indeed a model federation. Everything done here is in its right mode and i salute the administrators. Other sports associations and federations should borrow a leaf.

Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) President, Paul Mark Kayongo giving special praise to Ndejje University appreciated all the stake holders, Government and the players for the cause of the game development.

Without all our sponsors and Government who facilitated our travel to the world cup, we would not have progressed well. I wish to thank Ndejje University for the financial offer granted to us throughout the season.

The awards gala followed the 7th annual woodball congress.
