Among the 448 players duly registered for the first round of the 2015/16 Uganda Premier League (UPL), you will meet a shy 16 year old – Pius Obuya, with Uganda Prisons side, Maroons football club.

The aggressive character of the young lad on the soccer turf easily buries off his shy persona off the pitch.

Of the players in the league, Obuya could be among those (to say the least) that have not acquired any sign on fees but he has been already assured a monthly salary and other allowances.

Already a glittering football future looks eminent for Obuya, a senior five student at Amus College in Bukedea district, he harbors a vision of becoming a professional lawyer upon completion of his education.

He is delighted upon his first premier league license in life;

I thank Mr Patrick Isiagi (director at Amus College) for giving me a free education busary. I want to complete my education and become a successful lawyer. I also want to thank coach Ashaf for trusting me

 Mathias Lule, a coach who handled him with the Uganda U-17 team believes, once well handled and directed, Obuya will have a successful football career.

“Obuya is not only gifted once with the ball, but also has a discipline so I believe he has a great future in the game”, Lule says of the tricky left winger.

He is set to play in Maroons first game against Express F.C at Wankulukuku on Saturday, 29th August 2015
