CAF Beach Soccer Qualifiers:

  • Kenya 3-10 Ghana
  • Tanzania 3-7 Ivory Coast

West African Beach Soccer giants, Ghana and Ivory Coast drew the first blood as the CAF Beach Soccer qualifiers got underway on Saturday.

Ghana defeated Kenya 10-3 in Mombasa as Ivory Coast were 7-3 winners over Tanzania in Dar es salaam.

The two countries carry the advantage ahead of the return legs in two weeks time.

Uganda Sand Cranes pulled out of the qualifiers to grant Egypt progress to the CAF Beach Soccer Championships.

FUFA did not register the team citing financial constraints but promised to support the team in the 2016 Malindi International Beach Soccer tourney.

On Sunday, the defending champions Madagascar take on Mozambique.

The return legs have been confirmed for the weekend of 16 September 2016.

Nigeria, the hosts for the CAF Beach Soccer Championship have been joined by North Africans Morocco, Egypt and Libya, who qualified by virtual of the withdrawals of Liberia, Uganda and Sudan respectively.

The two finalists in the December tourney will represent Africa at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas next April 2017.
