Charles Kabore in action for Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso skipper Charles Kabore will mark his 100th International cap on Wednesday as the Stallions face Uganda Cranes in the penultimate round of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Uganda hosts Burkina Faso this Wednesday at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende in a crucial encounter for either side in regard to qualifying for Cameroon.

Kabore has been part of the Burkinabe National Team set up since 2006 when he made his debut and he is the country’s most capped player.

In the 99 games he has played with the Stallions, Kabore has scored four goals coming against Zimbabwe, Seychelles, Gambia and Niger.

Currently playing his trade at Dynamo Moscow in Russia, the 33-year old defensive midfielder captained Burkina Faso as they reached the 2013 AFCON final where they lost to Nigeria.

Regarded as Burkina Faso’s golden generation, the team had players Jonathan Pitroipa, Bakary Kone, Mohamed Koffi, Aboubacar Ouattara, Prejuce Nakoulma and Aristide Bance among others.

Kabore started his career at Association sportive de la SONABEL with their youth team before moving to Etoile Filante Ouagadougou in 2004.

In 2008, he signed for French Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseille where played for five years. He later moved to Russia where he has played for Kuban Krasnodar previously and now at Dynamo Moscow.

Burkina Faso is currently top of group B with 8 points, one ahead of Uganda while Malawi and South Sudan have 4 and 3 points respectively.
