Yudaya Nakayenze

Defender Yudaya Nakayenze and forward Viola Nambi are some of the notable names included in Crested Cranes provisional squad that will start preparations for the games against Kenya next month.

Uganda and Kenya will face off in the final qualifying phase of the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Nakayenze who features for Lindey Wilson College in USA returns to the national team fold after two years.

The versatile player last turned out for the Crested Cranes during the 2020 Olympic Qualifiers where Uganda fell to Ethiopia.

Nambi on the other hand has not been part of the setup since moving to Sweden in 2014 under the Kampala Junior Team franchise.

The other player returning to the team is left-footed winger Natasha Shiraz whose only appearance for Uganda came in 2016 in a friendly between Uganda and Kenya.

Fazila Ikwaput who missed the previous round games against Ethiopia due to injury is back into the team after recovering fully.

The first leg is slated for 17th February 2022 at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende with the return leg coming a week later in Nairobi.

The provisional squad named will enter residential camp at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru on Wednesday to embark on preparations.
