City Oilers finished the season on a high note, winning a record ninth men’s National Basketball League championship.

City Oilers won their ninth consecutive NBL title, cementing their place in history, with a 78-63 triumph over KIU Titans in Game 6.

On Wednesday evening, the Oilers wrapped the series 4-2 in a one-sided game at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The ninth title extends their winning record above shoulders. On the winning board, they are followed by Falcons and Power who have won six and five titles each.

On the night, Jimmy Enabu led the Oilers with 19 points while Fayed Bbaale and Titus Lual chipped in with 18 and 14 points respectively.

Both teams got off to a slow start, with the KIU Titans leading the first quarter 13-12. However, the Oilers dominated the second quarter (21-12), building an eight-point advantage at halftime.

Mandy Juruni’s team had a 15-point lead at the end of the third quarter after scoring 27-20 after the half.

The last quarter was deadlocked 18-18, and the Titans had no chance of winning. City Oilers won the game by 15 points.

Only Peter Obleng and Collins Kasujja scored in double figures for the Titans with 15 and 12 points respectively.

Having topped the regular standings, the Oilers have gone all the way to finish the season on a high lifting the ninth title.

The City Oilers whitewashed the Kampala Rockets before defeating Our Saviour in the semifinals; however, unlike the previous playoff opponents, the KIU Titans were not swept and won two games in the series.
