FUBA Basketball league
The dramatic basketball weekend ended as Power reclaimed top spot in the MTN FUBA League Division 1 standing. It all started on Friday when Power turned Rhinos into a complete mismatch as they beat them 107-65 with Isaac Lugude putting up game high 23points. The win saw Power go top ahead of Warriors who had a Saturday fixture against Heaters.
As anticipated, Warriors beat Heaters 75-66 with Kasewu and Malingha both putting up 15 points each though Warriors came from down in a game that looked a match-up and the result meant Warriors had to go top again before the Sunday UCU-Power game in which UCU’s passionate resistance was turned into another sort of a joke as they went down to power 70-77 with Isaac Afidra leading the way with 20 points.
It was a battle of the bottom teams in the Falcons-Titans game which Falcons won 75-51. However, the win was not enough to see Falcons out of the drop zone as they got their points cut for fielding unlicenced players earlier in the season. In the women’s division, three of the playoff places are almost guaranteed. On Friday Stomers beat Rhinos 54-33 and on Saturday, Gladiators got beaten by Rangers 70-36 as Cabs lost to UCU 20-89 in another complete mismatch while A1 Challenge woes continued as they lost to Sparks.
