Sande Kizito ready to reclaim title

Former Africa Boxing Union super bantamweight champion Sande “Swico” Kizito is ready to reclaim his crown in Ouagadougou when he battles Alexis Kabore of Burkina Faso on Friday for the vacant continental title.

Kizito, last held the title in 2006 after beating Kenya’s Morris “Virus” Chule on unanimous points at Sabrina’s Pub in Kampala, Uganda. The Ugandan fighter was stripped off his title after failing to defend his title during his period as a champion, but this time around he has a chance to claim the title again and also make his rankings in the world rise.

“I am looking forward to reclaiming my title however I have to overcome a hostile reception in West Africa,” Kizito said. “I would like to win the belt in impressive fashion like by way of knockout.”

Kizito has had previous attempts at world title shots like in 2008 he made an attempt at the PABA Bantamweight title against Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat of Thailand, but fell short losing by unanimous points decision.

He goes into this fight with a record of (12-8-1, 7 KOs) while Kabore is (15-0-0, 5 KOS).
