
Uganda’s top badminton player Edwin Ekiring fell to Belgium’s number one player Yuhan Tan 2-1 in the second round of the Yonex Dutch Open in Almere, Holland yesterday.
The All Africa games silver medalist fell after winning the first set 23-21 and lost his concentration falling in the two sets 18-21,9-21.
“I lost my concentration after the first set and never got back my rhythm back,” Ekiring told Kawowo sports. “It is part of the game and it happens sometime when you lose control at a crucial point.”
Earlier he beat Slovak Jarolim Vicen 21-14, 21-5 in the first round. The Ugandan player was using the event as a qualifier for next year’s Olympics in London.
