Home based professional golfer Silver Opio, was delighted with his debut win as a professional at his own backyard after winning the Chairman’s Cup at Entebbe golf club.
“I am glad to have won my first professional tournament and am glad that it was on my home turf,” Opio said after the win. “I have played like six tournaments and on several occassions failed to make the cut.”
Opio beat 19 professionals with a score of 143 gross to overcome his jinx of not making the cut and promised more wins after claiming a debut win.
The 19 professionals included in-form Herman Mutawe, Vincent Byamukama, Grace Onito Ocici, Emmanuel Onito Opio, Ian Odokonyero, Godfrey Mande, Dennis Anguyo, Gerrald Ayella, David Odiambo, Brian Mwesigwa, Brian Toolit, Fred Wanzala,Said Mawa, George Olayo,Amos Kamya and Dickson Lagoro.
