As the regular season draws to a close, it’s almost certain that three of the four play-off places in the men’s division one will go to Dmark Power, Kyambogo Warriors and Miracle Eagles. However the fourth and final play-off place is up for grabs as any of the other seven teams in the division can take it.
Almost each basketball weekend that passes presents a different team in the fourth place and the bottom two in the division standings. Regular play-off visitors UCU Canons looked favourites to get the place but that was before they lost three games to Power, Warriors And Falcons that Nick Natuhereza, UCU’s coach, describes as big games but then UCU’s loss to KIU on Sunday evening still makes you think otherwise.
The KIU Titans’ return to form is timely as it has not only helped to see them out of the drop zone but made their persuit for a play off place a reality. The Falcons seem to have put their troubles encountered earlier in the season behind them and are also looking forward to getting a play-off place. Unlike the Blicks Marines of then, the Entebbe based side is struggling but still also got a chance to squeeze themselves in the top four and eventually take the play-off place.
It’s a super few weekends ahead of us to witness the league draw to a close as the battle for the final play-off place gets on and the fight out of the bottom two heats up to avoid relegation.
