Tugume beats Kalisa

UPDF’s Titus “The Rock” Tugume, kicked and punched like a soldier on a mission to win a war when he beat Malik “The Hitman” Kalisa 10-7 on the judges cards last night to claim the vacant light heavyweight kick boxing title at Kati Kati Restaurant.

Tugume, went into the fight as a under-dog and took his vigour and energy dominating Kalisa, who most of the times was pinned

and was tagging for most of the gruelling six rounds of action.

The two fighters Tugume on the night took the first two rounds, but Kalisa bounced back to claim round three which saw him have his opponent counted by the referee. Round four was evenly balanced though both fighters had problems with the slippery ring.

“I am not looking for a rematch and am now thinking of bigger pay cheques in my career,” Tugume said after the win. “My manager and trainer’s will now decide my fate in my career.”

His fans chanted Golola, Golola, after the fight with one fan holding a placard that read “Golola we shall have u”

Tugume walked away with 10 million shillings after the fight that was promoted by designer and socialite Slyvia Owori while Kalisa pocketed 5 million.

On the night UPDF kick boxers won 7 of the eight support fights.
