Squash Association recieve money

Top seed and defending champion Michael Kawooya, will have to over come a strong field of foreign players at the sixth edition of the Castle Lite Squash Open that swings into action on November 7-12 at Kampala Club.

Uganda Squash Rackets Association, the local organisers are expecting regular participant Tanzanian based Zambian player Bruce Chikabuka and a

couple of players from Kenya to spice up the annual event that will run for a week.

The tournament was officially launched this morning at Kampala club with this year’s edition the first of its kind being sponsored under Castle Lite, Nile Breweries have sunk a total of 15 million shillings for the tournament that will the winners walk away with trophies and a cash prize that is yet to be decided by the local organisers USRA.

Brand manager Timothy Kayondo revealed that the change in sponsors roles comes in as part of a greater strategy to position Castle Lite as key player in sports like Golf,Tennis and Squash which resonate well with the brand.

Kawooya, will also have to stave off the challenge from players like Brian Okumu, Sam Kyagulanyi, Lawrence Matovu, Musa Matovu, Ian Rukunya Kajubu, Mika Gaalya.
