Seeded players get byes at Castle Lite Squash Open

Top seeded players in group B at the Castle Lite Squash Open championship sailed easily to the next round without swinging their racquets at Kampala Club on the opening day of action on Monday evening.

Top seed in group B Musa Matovu, received a bye to round two, seed two Robins Muhairwe, also sailed through by similar fashion. The trend didn’t stop their seed three and four J.B Tamwesigire and Tim Kayondo and seed six Stephen Musisi also got walk overs in this event that is sponsored by Nile Breweries under their brand Castle Lite.

The elite group that is group A starts its action on Wednesday with top seed and defending champion Michael Kawooya, will be seeking to claim back to back titles at this major tournament on the local squash calendar.

A total of eight women will also be vying for honours in this event with defending champion Edith Wamalwa as the top seed.

The tournament concludes on Saturday with a grand prize giving ceremony and a dinner for all the competitors.
