Three thousand one hundred and fifty five runners registered for the ninth edition of the MTN Kampala marathon on day one of registration at the Lugogo arena yesterday
“This is an overwhelming entry for day one and by tomorrow(Tuesday) we could have close to 6,000 athletes this is amazing,”Data entry manager Michael Niyitegeka stated. “It’s going to be a busy week and we are working on making the exercise smooth.”
The number is expected to increase this week with several runners eager to race in the 10 kilometer race, the marathon and half marathon at the same time.
This year’s winner will bag 16 million shillings in the 42 kilometer race which is a big increment than last year where the winner took back 8 million shillings.
