Davis Kashaka, beat the rain and overcame a strong field of close to 120 golfers to claim the Barclays/ICEA open golf tournament at the par 72 Kitante golf course at Kitante.
Kashaka returned to the club house with a score of 38 stableford points on count back to claim the overall winners award. Solomon Kego claimed group A with a score of 38 points also on count back.
The rain affected tournament was returning to Uganda Golf Club for the first time since 1997.
Group B was won by cricketer Junior Kwebiiha with 36 points while squash player Julius Musimenta was group C winner with 32. UPDF’s Flavia Namakula, maintained her good form of the season win she overcame a big field of lady golfers to claim the Ladies grown with a score of 35 points while Entebbe based golfer Gloria Mbaguta was group B winner with 35.
Deo Akope beat 19 professional golfers to claim the top prize of the professionals with a 68 gross score.
