Flavia Namakula to battle 19 foreign lady golfers at Ladies Open Championship

Flavia Namakula, will have to keep a close eye on her game plan going into Uganda Ladies Open golf championship that swings into action on Friday at the par 72 Kitante golf course.

Namakula, playing off handicap two and the defending champion will have to watch out for 14 year old Zambian Tina Nawa handicap 10, Kenya’s Bhavi Shah handicap 3, Mary Karano,

handicap 5, Tanzania’s Angel Eaton handicap 5, Zimbabwe’s Claire Minter handicap 2 together with Uganda’s Jasper Kamukama  handicap 4, Monica Ntege handicap 6 and Eva Magala handicap 6.

The tournament was launched this morning at Uganda Golf Club with Pepsi sponsoring the event to close too 22 million for three day tournament the biggest on the lady golf union calendar.

The mode of play will be stroke play with lady golfers playing in the main event over 54 holes on three days while their is a subsidiary for both the women and men.

The professional golfers will play for 5 million shillings that has been offered by Medcom. This year’s event according to the Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Rose Musoke, this is the biggest event and has attracted 13 Tanzanian lady golfers, two from Kenya, two from Zimbabwe, two from Zambia.
