Warriors in Trouble
UCU Lady Canons on Wednesday night stormed the 2011 MTN FUBA League playoff finals following their sweep of Magic Stormers in the best of five series as more astute minds had fathomed. It has been a great show of light-blue supremacy all through and the climax was an 86-45 beating of Stormers.
Sometimes it doesn’t rain, it pours! Playoff freshers, Stormers seemingly got to the playoffs and rested on their laurels. Defending champions, UCU Lady Canons led all quarters 18-10, 29-14, 18-8 and 21-13 to book their successive finals appearance. Lauren Akinyi engineered Stormers misery scoring game high 20 points followed by Peace Proscovia with 15 points while Stormers’ Sylvia Kaweesa’s 16 points were in a losing effort.

Meanwhile Kyambogo Warriors got into trouble as they fell to UCU Canons 66-78 in game 3 as the Canons took a 2-1 series lead. Last year’s losing finalists lost the first quarter 18-26, won the second and third quarters 12-11 and 17-16 respectively but fell in the final quarter 19-25. UCU’s Sudi Ulanga poured in game high 24points followed by teammate Martin Okwaku and Warriors Eric Malingha with 14points each. Ivan Enabu, Jude Ochieng and Ronnie Kasewu also scored in double figures for the former champions. UCU Canons wins saw them move to one game away from making a finals appearance while Kyambogo Warriors must win the remaining two games to make a 2011 finals appearance.
