
UPDF’s Flavia Namakula took a five shot lead into the final round of the Pepsi sponsored Uganda Ladies Golf Championships at the par 72 Kitante golf course in today’s action.
Namakula returned to the club house with a score of 148 gross to maintain her stronghold as she seeks back to back titles in this prestigious golf tournament. Tanzania’s Idd Madina was chasing with 153 gross while Zimbabwe’s Claire Minter was third with 154.
“Today I have played some embrassing golf I thought I would play level,but am glad after maintaining my poise am still in the lead,” Namakula said. “I got problems on hole 11 I hit a shank and that disorganised my game abit,but after that it was good for me cause I had a birdie on hole 13 and on hole 16 to give me a score of one over however I once had a bogey on the 18th hole and that was my second one in two days.”
Eva Magala was the surprise of the pack storming the top five with 163 gross after a poor start while Tanzania’s Sophia Reiffenstein completed the top five with a gross score of 163,but Jasper Kamukama fell out of the top five to number eight after a poor run today with a score of 167.
The tournament is sponsored by Pepsi Cola and Nile Breweries, Rwenzori Water and MTN.
