
Africa’s top badminton player Edwin Ekiring,has won the Botswana International after beating Israeli Misha Zilbermann 2-1 this weekend in Gaborone,Botswana.
The Ugandan ace badminton player had to dig deep to secure this win falling in the first set to his Israeli opponent Misha Zilberman 10-21,but then a determined and fired up Ekiring took the next two sets 21-18 and 22-20 in a tense final.
“I am happy for this win and I know it will shot me up in the world rankings,” Ekiring stated. “I need to start picking up the
points for the Olympics.”
Ekiring had just been on a three match losing streak that so him lose at the Yonex Dutch International, Bitburger Open in Saarbrucken,Germany and the Norwegian International.
This weekend the All Africa games badminton silver medalist will take part in the South Africa International in Johannesburg.
