Warriors battle UCU cannons

Kyambogo Warriors needed an Over Time to get to the 2011 MTN FUBA playoff finals in a nail-biter. Warriors started on a high taking the 1st Quarter 22-20, shared the second quater 16 all and edged the third 16-15. The final quater preented the action of the night.

With 4 minutes on the clock, UCU had 10 points lead and looked in control of the game but Warriors used their experience to pull the game within their reach. With less

than 20 secondsSudi Ulanga hit a 3 pointer to make it 79-76 in favour of the UCU Canons. Warriors went on a break, Malingha lays up, is fouled in the process and shoots to tie the game at 79.

On restart, UCU gained possession, made a quick move and Sande Okot nailed a jumper with 6 seconds to spare making it 81-79 in favour of the Canons. Warriors restarted and made a quick transition With Ivan Enabu (12 points and 2 assists) being tripped on the drive, sent to the foul line and sunk the two free throws to send the game into Overtime which Warriors won 15-8.

Henry Malinga poured in game high 27 points followed by UCU’s Geoffrey Omondi with 17 points. Martin Okwaku picked the only double-double of the game (15points, 15 rebounds) for the losing side.
