Uganda Professional Boxing Commission president Celestino Mindra, will be lobbying for a world title for the country’s hottest boxing property of the moment Shariff “The Lion Warrior”Bogere, at the WBC convention in Las Vegas, Nevada this month.
“I will lobby for Shariff Bogere to get a world title early next year. He has reached a position in his division to fight for a major title,” Mindra stated recently. “He has risen up the ranks so fast and he has kept his feet on the ground I strongly believe he has a bright future in his career.”
Mindra sits on the World Boxing Council as a board member and is also a member of the rankings committee of this prestigious boxing body. He also is secretary general of Africa Boxing Union.
Bogere is coming off a controversial win over Francisco Contreras in October where he won by way of knockout after landing a rabbit punch that took out his opponent while making his first defense of his WBO/NABO lightweight fight. Bogere is rated number 14 in the World Boxing Council light weight division.
Bogere is undefeated in his career and has a record of 21 wins and 13 Knockouts he is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions which is run by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya.
