Herman Mutawe, the season ender MTN mug of mugs tournament with a score four under par 140 to claim back to back tournaments in two years at the par 72 Kitante golf course.

The burly golfer scored 67 and 73 over two days of action to return with a gross score of 140 to win the 4.5 million shillings for winning his second mug of mugs tournament in a space of two years. Kenya’s David Odiambo was two shots off

with two under par 142 to finish runner up.

“I worked hard for this win and I have been practicising alot on this course and the hard work has paid off,” Mutawe said after his win. “I was always confident with my game and I am looking forward to the new season if I get a sponsor I would like to tackle international tournaments beyond Uganda.”

Entebbe based George Olayo one under par 143 was third in the race which had 21 professional golfers gracing the event that is sponsored by mobile phone giant company MTN.

Chairman of the Uganda Professional Golfers Association Deo Akope shot one over par 145 to finish fourth while Jinja’s Saidi Mawa completing the top five with a similar score other notable faces from East African professional tour included Rwanda’s Jean Baptiste Hakizimana and his compatriot Emmanuel Ruterana who scored 145 and 148 gross respectively.
