
DMark Power claimed the 2011 men’s FUBA League title following their 99-97 triumph over Kymbogo Wariors on friday night at YMCA.
Power showed their intentions in the first quarter winning it 32-29 after which Warriors reacted in the second quarter to carry a 52-45 lead to half time. At the end of the 3rd Warriors looked closer as they had opened up an 11 points lead and were composed only to lose it in the final minutes of the game.
Warriors had the game in their own hands but missed crucial shots before Isaac Afidra sunk a 3 that took the Champions 1 point (97-96) ahead of the two back to back losing finalists. On the break Stephen Okias was sent to the foul line but got only one shot to tie the game at 97. On restart, Ben Komakech was fauled and nailed the two throws with 2 seconds to play the game after which Eric Malinga missed a lay-up that would sent the game to overtime.
Power had three double-doubles, Isaac Afidra (29 points, 15 rebounds) Micheal Kojo (15 points, 17 rebounds) and Ben Komakech (27 points, 13 rebounds). Henry Malings’s double-double (16 points, 19 rebounds) and Stephen Okia’s 28 points were in a losing effort.
