USPA nominates Nile Sports Personalities for the year 2011

Sports scribes body USPA has nominated its Sports Personalities of the year 2011 who will be crowned at a splendid Nile Special awards gala on January 27 at Golf Course Hotel.

USPA has nominated national rally champion Susan “Super Lady” Muwonge and Edmund Kyeyune, Africa’s top badminton player and All Africa badminton silver medalist Edwin Ekiring, Annet Negesa, Africa junior athletics double gold medalist and double All Africa games men’s athletes double gold medallist Moses Kipsiro.

The overall winner of the year will be determined at the grand gala that will also see winners of 2010 and 2011 being crowned.

The She Cranes, winners of the women’s gold medal at the All Africa games in Netball where chosen the Sports Team of the Year beating the men’s and women’s cricket team together with D-Mark Power basketball team.

At the same assembly held at Oasis restaurant, Lugogo the scribes voted the national women’s cricket side the sports personalities of the month of December 2011 after winning the Pepsi ICC Africa Women’s Twenty20 championship they polled 525 points against MTN FUBA men’s basketball champions D-Mark Power.
