Cricket star, Barbara Mukankusi was delighted about winning the 2011 female cricketer USPA award. “I feel so proud of myself, feels like winning a beauty contest” said the national team captain.
Mukankusi commonly known as ‘Tiswee bebe’ spurred Uganda to winning the women’s Africa T20 championship last December. Her 69 runs off 59 balls, not out
against Sierraleone got her the woman of the match award. She finished the tournament with a total of 111 runs. The crowd’s darling put on a splendid performance with Carol Namugenyi, Mackenzie Ayato, Frankyln Najjumba and Consy Aweko.
Currently at Charity cricket club, Barbara has won 2 trophies including the national league in her 1 year tenure at the club. She has been the national team captain for 7 years with breaks in between. She amassed 5 trophies for Uganda. Individually, she has 20 trophies and 5 medals.
Going into 2012, Barbara wants to put more time for practice as an individual, visualize more on the game since it requires a lot of brains and also help the young girls learn how to produce fruit infront of the stamps and bails. “I hope and expect more exposure in 2012, more tourneys both local and international” told Kawowo Sports
