Namakula to watch Tiger Woods in HSBC championship

UPDF sergent Flavia Namakula, is set to watch golf great Tiger Woods in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship from January 26-29 at the Abu Dhabi golf club.

“She will be travelling with a group of high profile golfers from Uganda to watch the tournament and probably even get an opportunity of meeting Woods before the tournament,” a golf insider said. “There is an impressive field for this European PGA event and hopefully we hope by her watching this tournament she will get some new golf tips and technique.”

This year’s edition has attracted world number two Lee Westwood,Martin Kaymer,Luke Donald, European and world number one, Charl

Schwartzel, Rory McIlroy (US Open) and Darren Clarke (The Open); Abu Dhabi debutant and 14-time major winner Tiger Woods;  Australian star, Jason Day; Korean sensation, KJ Choi; two-time Abu Dhabi champion.

Namakula is the Nile Special USPA lady golfer of the year 2011 and will miss receiving her award on January 27 at Golf course hotel. Other golfers that will be travelling for the event include Uganda Golf Union president Amos Nzeyi, Jasper Kamukama,Ferdinand Mugisha,Herman Mutawe and John Basabose.

Namakula, this year is to play on the women’s international golf circuit to improve her game.
