
Sports minister Charles Bakkabulindi, has banned Uganda Professional Kickboxing Board of Control, that has been going around claiming to the official local body to run the sport in the country.
“We are the only official body that has the right to organising amateur and professional kickboxing in the country and the other bodies are doing it at their own risk,” Hassan Sekirime, the president of Uganda Kickboxing Federation said at a press conference this morning at Hotel Aponye. “The other groups that are going around claiming to organise and run the sport are all doing it at their own risk and they face serious repercussions.”
In a letter date February 3 and addressed to the Inspector General of Police and copied to the Commandant of Police, general secretary national council of sports, the president World KickBoxing Federation and to Sekirime.
The minister stated “The Uganda Kickboxing federation is the only official body and federation recognized by the ministry of education and sports, with the mandate to develop,organise and promote kickboxing in Uganda,whether professional or amateur.
In the letter he added the Uganda Professional Kickboxing Board of Control is not recognised by the Ministry of Education and Sports and is not allowed to organize any kickboxing activity in Uganda.
To reaffirm the stance recognising UKBF world kickboxing federation wrote a letter to the local body’s president stating they are the only body that can carry out business of the sport that its MMA and Pro-Point fighting in Uganda.
