Davis Karashani Scoops USPA January Accolade

Davis Arinaitwe Karashani, the cricket national team captain seems to continue with his good days of form ever since he inspired Uganda to a 6 wicket win over Namibia in the ICC Africa T20 championship final at Lugogo last July.

The Ugandan skipper was named the Nile Special USPA sportspersonality of January at a meeting held at Oasis restaurant today.
All this came as a result of having led Ugandan franchise side, the Nile Knights to a sweet victory over fellow Ugandan side, the Rwenzori Warriors in the T20 EastAfrica premier league final in the Nairobi Gymkhana oval last month.

His impressive statistics of 3 wickets in 4 overs and conceding 14 runs could not only put the star in limelight but also raised his chances of getting to the podium.

According to Mark Namanya, Davis Arinaitwe is the first male winner of the prestigious award since the body’s new sponsor came aboard. He will be officially crowned next week.

Parditar CC, the cricket division 1 league defending champions who beat Charity TF by 23 runs in the final of the Championship had also been shortlisted by the sports’ scribes. Not forgeting the 2011 USPA team of the year, the She Cranes who garnered victory in Zanzibar. The vibrant netball side won the Chama chama Pinduzi tournament with stupendous wins over Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and the hosts Zanzibar last month.
