Bogere stands in Marquez's way as he seeks world title

World Boxing Organisation contender number three 135 pound division Sharif “The Lion” Bogere, stands in the way of the division’s super champion Juan Manuel Marquez as he seeks to become the sixth Ugandan world boxing champion.

The undefeated Ugandan prize fighter is coming off back to back knockouts against Francisco Contreras and most recently against Mexican Sergio Rivera increasing his chances of landing a world title shot against 38 year old Mexican Marquez, but in a division that has some of the best

fighters he also will have to keep a look at undefeated Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa together with John Molina.

The Las Vegas based North American Boxing Organisation lightweight champion is (22-0-0,14 KOs). Bogere has has registered four knockouts in his last six fights and has been tipped by boxing pundits for more glory in his career.

“I will fight with any body in my division for a world title,” Bogere said recently. Since signing up with Golden Boy Promotions the fast rising boxing star has maintained his status as one of the finest fighter’s in the world and in his division.

The Ugandan fighter is ranked number 20 by World Boxing Council in the lightweight division and number six by the International Boxing Federation.

He is yet to break into the Pound For Pound class, but it is just a matter of time before he enters this elite class.

He will become the sixth Ugandan boxer to become a world champion when his opportunity arrives this year following in the same footsteps like John “The Beast” Mugabi, Ayub Kalule,Cornelius Boza Edwards,Kassim “The Dream” Ouma and Jackson “Action” Asiku.
