Elgon Cup Squad full of Surprises

When the old things fade away and unexpectedly return amidst us, our eyes are filled with memories, shocks, controversy and eagerness. Uganda Rugby Union (URU) recently released a 35 man squad for the 2012 Elgon Cup to be held on 21st April in Kampala and 28th April in Nairobi.

This will act as a selection exercise for the East African Tuskers team that will host the touring

English Counties team in June in both countries. The list has some surprises as Kobs wing Allan Musoke who has not been in any competitive rugby of late. This has left many questions unanswered from many rugby factions.

Another surprise selection is Rhinos Cameroonian Martial Tchumkam who has not played a league game and is nursing a knee injury. Meanwhile, Felix Lubega who was out for three years with injury is back on the list set to start training next Wednesday.

Eight players earned fresh caps and the new call ups to the 2012 provisional squad are center Patrick Leku last year.

Veteran Flanker Robert Seguya who transferred from MTN Heathens to Toyota Buffaloes inspiring them to a current season high third place table standing, has won yet another call up. Robert Seguya is Uganda Rugby Cranes most capped player.
