Egypyt's Aboutrika returns to hurt Uganda Cranes
A last minute header by Mohamed Aboutrika gave Egypt a 2-1 win over Uganda off a Mohammed Gedo cross.
Custodian Hamza Muwonge miscalculated the cross and left his line in the process, but still his defenders had not done enough to stop the experienced Egyptian skipper in the air.
The midfielder was called out of retirement by American coach Bob Bradley in his first engagement as Egyptian coach. Uganda had taken the lead on 34 minutes courtesy of Netherlands based Fabian Derrick Kizito. 15 minutes into the second half Sala Ashour equalized for Egypt in a game the Pharaohs dominated but were always kept at bay by the Ugandans.
This was the third rime in a space of two years that Uganda plays so well against the seven times Africa champions but are concentrations eludes the team and they concede last minute goals. Credit should though be given to the young side who played very well and about the fact that they weren’t intimidated at any time of the game.
