Kobs thrust trophy duel to the flex

Fred Mudoola’s side, UTL Kobs ensure that their title chase with rivals MTN Heathens who beat Nile Lions 98-00 early in the week was stretched to next weekend with a 48-9 win over the Xfm Impis side on Saturday. The record League winners closed the six point gap from table leaders to one with both a game to spare.

Steven Ogwete savoured their side’s hopes of the top crown. James Ijonghat, Joseph Aredo and Brian Asaba had a try apiece and Kevin Makmot converting four earned the Kobs a crucial bonus point. Keith Seruyange scored three penalties to count for his side’s nine points.

Kobs’ win means they and Heathens must triumph with bonus points next weekend if the crown is anything to go by. G4S Pirates’ Denis Etuket scored two tries while Timothy Muwonge added one whereas Anthony Kinene also had a try and a penalty on count in their 20-all draw with John Musoke’s Rhinos.
