When the two Kyadondo sides faced off in week three of this season, a vibrant young Buffaloes shocked defending champions, MTN Heathens denying them a bonus point in an 18-16 loss.
At the time, the picture was not clear about Heathens’ road to the title and with the bright light at the end of the tunnel; they face off in a televised game on SuperSport (Channel 219) this Saturday.
Though Buffaloes have recently had a big blow in veteran Robert Seguya’s injury, the hopes for an impressive finish
could indulge the game into an exciting one. Kobs on the other hand will play Rhinos at Kampala Rugby club and will put their prayers and luck together to avoid missing a fourth year league-less.
Still when all these fixtures took place, Nile captain, Felix Azibo’s death (R.I.P) forced his side’s tie with Mongers to a later date and this time round, the sides face off in Jinja and bottomed with just a point, Nile could want to increase their points a respectable figure. They lost 98-00 to Heathens and might want to kill the Kyadondo memories by burying the visitors.
G4S Pirates travel to Makerere graveyard to play XFM Impis in a move to push for the third slot at the end of the tomorrow. With television sweeping and cutting through East African sport, finally Ugandan rugby will be telecast live, only prior to the Elgon Cup tie in Kampala.
According to the Daily Monitor, the package includes magazine programmes, funding a development plan and helping Uganda secure a South African coach. “We are development partners with local rugby to improve their revenue and develop the sport,” said, Gary Rathbone, the SuperSport head of Africa.
SuperSport will have the exclusive broadcast and commercial rights for televised games but the free-to-air rights will be retained by URU. Unlike soccer where clubs earn from the venture, rugby clubs will not receive any immediate financial reward.
