SC Villa expelled from Bell Uganda Cup

Uganda’s most successful soccer club SC.Villa has been hit with a heavy monetory fine and also expelled from the Bell Uganda Cup for their fans violent conducted in an aborted quarter final clash with URA FC which the hosts were leading by 3-1 with 18 minutes to play.

The Fufa Competitions Committe Secretary Decolas Kiiza announced in a statement today after Villa fans pelted missiles (stones) at match officials forcing security to fire tear gas and bullets to disperse rowdy

Villa fans who were endlessly stoning referees and URA FC fans.

According to a statement from Kiiza, the following were the punishments Villa must face.

(a) The FCC has expelled SC.Villa from the competition for causing abortion of the game at Lugazi against URA FC. (b) SC.Villa looses the match by forfeiture (3-0) and URA FC’s three goals netted by Robert Ssentongo, Moses Feni and Allan Owiny stand. That means Villa lose by 6-1.

(c) SC.Villa has been fined Ugx 0.3M for refusing to continue with play as directed by referee Fred Mufta after the situation had normalised.

(d) SC.Villa has been fined Ugx 3M for causing desertion of the match.

(e) SC.Villa must forfeit 20% of the gate collection share from the match as their fans caused the chaos. The amount is believed to be Ugx 66,500.

(f) SC. Villa forfeits the already earned prize money of Ugx 1.05M for reaching the quarter finals of the competition.

(g) SC.Villa has been ordered to provide the main ring leaders of the violence with in one week or face another fine of Ugx 1M. Mr. Kiiza also added the club troubles file has been forwarded to Fufa disciplinary committee for further sanctions if deemed necessary.

Kawowo sports’ effort of talking to Villa officials were futile as they couldn’t pick their phones while others’ were off. Club Coach Mike Mutebi and Chairman technical declined to make a comment insisting they are not in position to talk for the club on such matters. As usual, kawowo sports will keep you posted.
