UCA receive shs 4 million boost for girls’ cricket week

Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) received a shs 4million shot in the arm for the tenth edition of the schools’ girls’ cricket week that bowls off tomorrow.

The financial enhancement, only a quarter of the competition’s budget was given by the Trinidad and Tobago high commission in a move to develop women’s cricket in the country.

According to UCA official, Franklyn Najjumba, eleven

schools confirmed participation, seven of which are from upcountry.

Defending champions and record winners (4), Gayaza High School, Kololo SSS, Ndejje SS and Kings’ College Budo are the sides from the central region.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Gayaza pulled out of the tournament owing to their busy academic curriculum. Lugogo, Gayaza, Kyambogo and two Budo grounds will host the games.

At least ten umpires and four match commissars will cover the 25-over tourney that ends on April 17. The event was not held in 2007 and 2009.
