
World Youth & Junior Championship qualifiers for Zone five is set to take route at Lido beach resort for the under-18 & under-20 categories for each gender in a bid to secure slots the World Championship later in the year.
Team Uganda is already camped at Nkumba University under the guidance of the National Coach Hannington Nsubuga. The final selection for Uganda’s representatives shall be announced tomorrow and these will include two players each per gender in the
under-20 and under-18 categories.
Kenya has confirmed entering all four categories while Burundi has confirmed the junior boys’ team. With last confirmations expected from Egypt, Rwanda, Sudan and Tanzania, the tournament qualifications are set to gain competition and momentum.
The Entebbe tournament shall determine which countries move to next stage at continental level in May before proceeding to Cyprus which will host the world youth event in July at Lanaka while Canada will host the junior games 29 Aug to 2 Sep at their famous Halifax waterfront.
