URA FC thumps Masaka LC, Close to Cup finals

URA FC 2-0 MASAKA LC.

URA FC are on the brink of qualifying for the finals of Bell Uganda Cup after beating Masaka LC 2-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals tie played at Lugazi Municipal Stadium. Hamis Kitagenda opened the scoring in the 31st minute after he recieved a beautiful cross from Sula Bagala to end the first half on top.

After recess, the provider turned scorer after 54 minutes as Sula Bagala’s scorcher from within the 18 yard area hit both posts before settling into the back of

the net. Masaka LC custodian Fahad Katongole had no chance but pick the ball from the net. Kefa Kisala’s side also had chances to at least score a precious away goal but the Tax collectors’ rear guard was up to the task.

Over all, the hosts had the better of the game and deserved the win. Masaka LC now have to score at least two unanswered goals when the two teams meet in the return leg on Friday. The winner over two legs will meet either Maroons FC or Bunamwaya SC who meet in the first leg of the second semis tomorrow at Luzira. Finals are to be played at Pece Stadium in Gulu district.
