Uganda Hippos captain dropped

The national U20 coach Paul Nkata has dropped the team’s captain Gift Ali from the team travelling to Mozambique for the return leg of the Africa Youth Qualifiers. ‘Gigi’ has not been a favorite even at club level (Proline FC) as he has been relegated to the bench by Abdallah Mubiru, who is Nkata’s deputy at the Hippos.

“Not that he is a bad player, we just felt he wouldn’t be

useful in the Mozambique according to the strategy we are going to apply,” Nkata told kawowo sports.  Gigi din’t start the first leg in Kampala as Khalid Aucho, Said Kyeyune and Lutimba Yayo manned the centre of the pack.

“As coaches we still have a lot of faith in him (Gigi) and he is very much in our plans,” Nkata added. The Hippos play Mozambique this Saturday and will have a date with Ghana if they go past their opponents.
