
Uganda’s top squash players Michael Kawooya and Ian Kajubu, will have to find $7,139 dollars to enable them take part in the Saint Lucia Squash Open slated for June 25-30 in Saint Lucia or miss out.
“We have received an invitation to participate in this tournament and at the moment we are looking for funds to enable us participate in this international event,” Kawooya said. “It’s a tournament that we are hoping to take part in and it will help us gain necessary exposure.”
The two players have received an invitation and have been blessed by local squash body USRA.
The two youth players are the finest players for the country and have both taken part at the Commonwealth games in India in 2010.
Kawooya is Uganda’s number one player while Kajubu, is the country’s seed two. The invitation was sent to the Uganda Squash Rackets Association by the Saint Lucia Squash Association president Cheryl Renwick.
