
A few days after the death of Aberdeen Shikhoyi, Ugandan women’s rugby enthusiast, Hellen Buteme proposed the idea on social network, Facebook though few took on the idea. At the late’s requiem mass in Nairobi on Monday, Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) president, Mwangi Muthee said the proposal to change the ladies’ Elgon cup to Aberdeen Shikhoyi Memorial Cup would only be a perfect tribute.
Uganda Rugby Union president, William Blick welcomed the proposal, saying its a good idea. The International Rugby Board also sent condolence messages for Aberdeen. Shikhoyi suffered a concussion with Uganda’s Christine Kizito during the first leg of the tournament dubbed Migingo Cup in Kenya. The fallen hero will be buried on 12th May, this Saturday.
