Rwenzori book Bamburi Rugby Series semifinal berth

Rwenzori 17-15 Rhinos
Buffaloes 7-17 Victoria

Brian Odong scored a last gasp try that defeated title holders, UAP Rhinos 17-15 to book his side, Dimension Data Rwenzori a semifinal berth in the tenth edition of the Bamburi Rugby Super Series at Kampala grounds this evening. Just like in the Elgon Cup legs in Kyadondo and RFUEA grounds, Anthony Kinene missed four kicks at goal that could have decided the game even without Odong’s late performance.

Kinene finally had a conversion that counted for a 7-0 halftime score. Rhinos’ lock Edwin Makori and wing Godfrey Mbea scored two crucial tries as the titleholders put led a charge from recess. Fly-half Eden Agero converted the first and added a penalty.
In the other pool B clash, KCB Victoria, the second Ugandan side, had a 17-7 victory over Buffaloes, handing them a second straight loss away in Mumias. Victoria must triumph over Rwenzori in a Ugandan derby next Saturday at Kyadondo grounds and hope that Buffaloes hand Rhinos a second straight loss. In pool A, Kenyan sides Cheetahs and Lions moved on to the semifinals.
