Benjamin Kiplagat and fellow country mate, Simon Ayeko may have faltered in the 3000m steeplechase in the Samsung Doha meet but Moses Ndiema Kipsiro brought smiles to those who bear in him Olympic hopes after the athlete finished third in the men’s 3000m.
Kipsiro finished on 7:31.88, behind Kenyans, Augustine Kiprono Choge and Eliud Kipchoge who took first and second in turn. But Kipsiro joined the medal bracket before three other Kenyans and double Olympic medalist, Kenenisa Bekele who finished seventh with a 7:40.00 in the late hours of Friday.
Kipsiro missed a medal by whisker at the 2008 Olympics after the Ugandan finished fourth in the 5000m at the Bird’s Nest Stadium.
