Maroons FC U-14 side and Express FC U-16 youth football teams claimed the inaugural Uganda Super League youth football championships that run from Friday to Sunday at three different venues.

Maroons youth side clipped URA FC 1-0 thanks to a Walter Ochora goal in a thrilling encounter that was watched by various USL officials including the chairman of the league Kavuma Kabenge.

In the U-16 final Express FC beat Maroons FC 1-0 with Ibra Lubinga scoring the all important goal to seperate the two sides.

The championship started at Villa Park on Friday with preminary rounds,semifinals at Wankulukuku,third play offs and finals at KCCA stadium Lugogo six super league clubs featured in the U-14 and U-16 category 240 players where licensed and there bio data is captured on the data bank.

 Six U-16 teams from Maroons FC,Police FC,SC Villa,URA FC and Express FC and four U-14 teams from the same clubs took part.

“I am impressed by the level of skills by these youth players and we hope this will be a good foundation for our local clubs,” Kabenge said. “Next season it will be compalsory for all our USL clubs to have youth football teams.”

Uganda Super League sponsored the tournament together with World Wide Marketerers.

The tournament will be held annually. Lubinga and his Express FC’s U-14 player Fahadi Nsamba where golden boot winners in the U-16 and U-14 respectively.
