Proline FC stuns champions URA FC

Newly crowned Bell Uganda Cup winners URA FC could not replicate their championship form as Proline ran off with a 1-0 win on this evening at Nakivubo stadium. Abdallah Mubiru’s side imposed themselves on the league leaders from minute one but lacked the final touch that would see them find the back of the net for long spells.
It was URA who drew first blood but marksman Hamis Kitagenda could not makeit count when he found himself all alone with Yasin Mugabi though the latter’s pressure worked in Proline’s favor. Both teams fought for possessions in the midfield from then on but it was Proline who always had the better of URA with their free flowing-forward going game.
Full backs Simon Namwanja and Ausi Kaaya proved a pain in the neck for URA FC as the enterprising runs created goal scoring opportunities. Kaaya got himself into goal grabbing positions but didn’t make it count.Anthony Bongole won Proline a penalty when Lawrence segawa failed to contain him from the right wing on 35 minutes but Tabula stepped up only to hit the wood work.
When both teams looked like they were ready to settle for the barren draw; a move started by Namwanja involved Gift Ali who found William Wadri on the far right to calmly pickup Bongole. He made no mistake by controlling beautifully with his right before he turned and shot towards the helpless Allan Owiny in the URA FC goal.
Alex Isabirye introduced striker Benson Ociti for creative force sula Bagala in search for an equalizer but discipline in Proline’s defense didn’t have room for messing around. Mubiru responded with Paddy Muhumza (a midfielder) for leading club scorer Wadri which gave Proline numbers in the center of the park.
With four minutes to time Andrew Kidega came on for the injured Gigi who was covering enough ground for Proline by the time of his substitution. With two minutes to time Ssetongo got selfish as he decided to shoot wide instead of passing for the already present kitagenda and Masaba. The Win puts Proline FC in second place on the 16 team log and might be a deciding factor in who wins the title of the Bell Uganda Super league 2011/2012 season.
