Uganda Cranes’ Netherlands based striker Derrick Fabian Kizito is confident the national soccer side can successfully maneuver the hurdles ahead of the crucial month of June that will see the team play Angola (away), Senegal and Congo Brazzaville (home) within a space of 15 days in the 2014 World Cup 2013 AFCON qualifiers. The Ugandan international who netted on his debut against Egypt in a friendly match played in Khartoum Sudan is part of that 30 man squad summoned by Coach Bobby Williamson last Wednesday to prepare for the task ahead.
“It’s difficult we must confess but as a team, we are ready for the task ahead and must stand up and be counted. All these games are difficult in equal measure but am confident the lads can maneuver the hurdles”.
The youngster who caught a glimpse of the super league match between league champions URA FC and SC Villa yesterday at Lugazi also had praise for Ugandan talent and pointed out a few guys from the match that really impressed him. “Great game of football. Both sets of players are fantastic. Uganda is not short of talent. Am in particular impressed with the technical abilities of URA FC’s shirt 16 and 9, together with Villa’s shirt 28. Their style of play is fantastic. I like their turns, passes and the first touch”, he said.
In this regard, he was referring to URA FC’s duo of Augustine Nsumba (16) and Robert Ssentongo (9) and Villa’s young midfield gem, Acema Robert (28). The national team began training on Monday at Namboole stadium and is camped at Sky Hotel, Naalya.
