SC Villa tactician Mike Mutebi has lamented that there is a rot in some players at the club that must be arrested if the Villa Park side are to restore the glory days that the club is known for. This was in his post match comments after the record league champions terribly lost to URA FC 3-1 in a league match played at Lugazi municipal stadium Tuesday evening.
“There is a rot in some players at the club. It must arrested if the club is to restore the glory days. How can a player train the whole week and then complain on the match day that he is injured. Of course as a Coach, you can’t force him to play”, said Mutebi with out disclosing the names of the player who did so.
On the loss itself, Mike confessed that missing nine players through injuries and suspension had a hand in the loss but refused to use that as an excuse,
“Villa is a big club that is expected to win at all costs regardless of injuries but we were missing nine players today. School boy mistakes cost us but these are young players trying to develop and am sure they are progressing well. The problem is that most of them are just from school while others are from mid table teams where with a giant killing mentality but soon will get to understand that at Villa, every game is a must win. I don’t doubt their quality”.
On the two mistakes that custodian Mulindwa Muwonge committed allowing the ball into the back of the net, Mike refused to blame him citing it was a team loss.
“He has been fantastic in the last few games making lots of saves. Perhaps it was a bad day at office but he is one of the senior players at the club. I won’t apportion the blame to him and my defenders. The midfield was run over today but we can take positives from the loss as we prepare to arrest all the problems come pre season”, he concluded.
SC Villa were without Bengo Steven (suspension), Noah Ssemakula, Muganga Ronald, Muleme Isaac, Ssenfuka Patrick, Kakaire Apollo, Gassana Phillip (malaria), Kabanda Robert, Okoth Denis and Nkugwa Eurukana (awol)
